A VERY colourful Sedlescombe and District Garden Society Autumn Show took place in the village hall on Saturday.
The apple tasting was a popular item and varieties included Cox Orange Pippin, Egremont Russet, Queen Cox, Lord Lambourne, Gala, Laxton Fortune, Idared, Flandres Cox, Braeburn, Ellisons Orange, Sunset, Laxton Superb, Bramley Seedling, Greensleeves and many more.
Organisers would like to thank members who brought apples to the show and to Mrs DeQuincey, Moat Farm, Salehurst, for providing a wide range.
The winning variety by a large margin was Lord Lambourne (team leader Alan Olin joked during the closing speech that the society was honoured that 'Lord Lambourne' was able to attend).
The show team would like to say a big 'thank you' to the exhibitors, judges, Roger Hambrook of Friary Gardeners, Dr James Dennison of the British National Carnation Society, Helen Goddard and Kuldip Chahal of Pestalozzi Village and the many helpers who made the show a success.
Both Friary Gardens and British National Carnation Society donated items for the raffle and the society much appreciated their generosity.
