A woman has been killed in Rye after she was hit by a train on Friday.

It is not known whether the woman, believed to be between 30 and 40 years old, had walked onto the tracks at the level crossing next to Rye Railway Station, at 4pm on Friday, or whether she had jumped from a footbridge nearby.

Trains were delayed for more than two hours.

The woman's death is not being treated as suspicious.
