Amy Campbell clinched the WBC Pro Muay Thai national welterweight (66.6kg) title with a victory against current European champion Jillian Corbett, from the world-famous Wicker Camp in Sheffield.

The bout was fast paced from the off, with Campbell dictating the pace with her non-stop work. The power in her hands was clear and her opponent certainly didn’t like it.

Corbett, however, had some very strong leg kicks and looked to use them early. Unfazed, Campbell pushed on and dominated the clinch with knees.

Both ladies gave it their all, but it was Campbell who impressed the judges throughout and at the end of five hard rounds, a unanimous decision was given to the Fighting Tigers Gym talent, who became the new WBC national champion.

Fighting Tigers Gym head instructor Andy Chambers said: “I have said from day one that Amy has the potential to become the best female fighter in the world and this is just clarification of this, becoming the UK number one and by claiming the prestigious WBC crown.”

Campbell has now become a multiple champion in three different disciplines across three different weight classes on two continents.
