Bexhill College’s indoor cricket team came second in the National Schools’ Finals.

The Penland Road college was pipped by one run by New College, Pontefract, in a close-fought final at Edgbaston.

The team of Nick Peters, Josh Jones, Ryan Boakes, Alex Murray, Alex White and Harry Smeed performed admirably throughout the competition. Bexhill College beat tough opposition to reach the final, having qualified for the National Finals through regional heats.

Jemima Hilton-Berry, Bexhill College’s Sports Academies’ co-ordinator, said: “We are very proud of our indoor cricket team for their achievement. They played brilliantly to reach the final of the national competition.

“Last year we reached the National Finals, but were beaten in an earlier knockout round so we have improved year-on-year. Hopefully we’ll go one better and win the competition next year.”
