Managers express contrasting views

The managers of Bexhill United and Little Common expressed contrasting opinions after the Boxing Day derby.

Bexhill boss Darrol Parris felt his team merited their 2-1 win, while Little Common player-manager Russell Eldridge considered his side unfortunate to leave The Polegrove empty-handed.

Parris said: “I think we deserved it. First half I think we should’ve had two penalties, but we were too honest. We missed some sitters and we should be out of sight.

“Second half up until they scored I thought we were the better side, but I said ‘this (missed chances) is going to come back and haunt us’ and within two minutes they’ve scored. Then we just looked like we tired a little bit and I didn’t think we would get another chance, but they presented it to us.”

“I didn’t think we deserved to lose the game,” said Eldridge. “I thought we played the better football and created chances, but unfortunately today we didn’t convert them.

“The movement we had, the way we kept the ball, the little runs we were making, I thought we were going to get in there, but sometimes you don’t always get what you deserve.

“To concede the (winning) goal was a little bit more sickening, but on other occasions he (goalkeeper Jon Saunders) has saved us this season.”
