Two games off already

Two of the area’s four Boxing Day football matches have already been postponed.

The Sussex County League Division One derby between Rye United and Sidley United, plus Westfield’s trip to Eastbourne United AFC in Division Two were called-off last night (Monday) because of waterlogged pitches following all the recent rain.

Hastings United’s game away to Whitehawk in the Ryman League Premier Division (kick-off 12noon) is subject to an 8.45am pitch inspection tomorrow.

Bexhill United are trying their best to get their Sussex Division Two clash at home to neighbours Little Common (kick-off 11am) to beat the weather.

The problems with the weather aren’t just confined to this corner of the county because the Sussex County League fixtures at Arundel, Pagham, Worthing United and Littlehampton Town have also been called-off already.
