Hastings United face an important game in their battle to climb away from the lower reaches of the table.

The U’s visit relegation rivals Leatherhead today (Saturday) in a crucial Ryman Football League Premier Division encounter.

Hastings tackle a third-from-bottom Leatherhead side which have improved noticeably since picking up only five points from their first 11 games.

“It’s a big week,” said Hastings player-manager Sean Ray. “We want to come away from Saturday with something. We go into the game with a point and that’s the minimum we want to come away with. Then we want to push on and see if we can be a little more consistent.”

Leading scorer Zac Attwood, pictured, will miss the trip to Leatherhead for his two yellow cards against Lewes on Boxing Day.

Jordan Woodley has been hit with a four-match ban (starting on January 21) for his sending-off against Aveley at the weekend.
