Rye United put a stop to successive home defeats with a 2-2 draw against Pagham on Saturday.

The Quarterboys produced a much-improved display as they twice came from behind to earn a point which leaves them with three wins, three draws and three defeats from their first nine Sussex County Football League Division One games.

After a goalless first half, Josh Clack gave Pagham a 63rd minute lead only for Olly Lockyer to equalise 10 minutes later. Joe Briggs scored a cracking free kick to restore Pagham’s advantage in the 78th minute, but Ben Billings lobbed the away goalkeeper in the 82nd minute to ensure honours finished even.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Bexhill United fought out a 1-1 draw at home to Oakwood in Division Two. Sam Cane opened the scoring for the visitors midway through the first half, but Danny Leach rescued a point for Bexhill with a 70th minute penalty.

Westfield’s four-match undefeated run in all competitions was ended by a 1-0 loss at home to new Division Two leaders Loxwood. The only goal was scored by Tim Martin in the 13th minute. Little Common drop from first to third after being without a fixture.
