Hastings United's footballers continued their unbeaten record in this season's cup competitions with an away victory this afternoon (Saturday).

The U's won 3-0 at fellow Ryman Football League Division One South club Ramsgate in the Buildbase FA Trophy preliminary round.

Their reward is a very rare home tie, against Aylesbury United, in first round qualifying on Saturday October 29. The scheduled league game against Three Bridges that day will be played at a later date.

United took a 29th minute lead when Harry Stannard squeezed the ball home from the tightest of angles for his first away goal for the club.

Ramsgate spurned chances to equalise either side of half time, while at the other end, Alex Akrofi couldn't make telling contact with a Matt Bodkin cross and Stannard was denied by a super save.

United made his first genuine save of the afternoon before Stannard scuffed wide at the other end as both teams looked capable of scoring.

With heavy rain now making conditions slippery, United went two-up in the 77th minute. A cross by Frannie Collin was fired home by the unmarked Bodkin.

Bodkin went from scorer to provider four minutes later, providing the cross which substitute Jack Harris tucked away to complete the scoring.

Tom Climpson played the full 90 minutes at right-back for United, while fellow youngsters Bradley Pritchard and Sam Foulkes came on as substitutes.

United: Pidgeley; Climpson, Rowe, Davies, Butler; Stannard, Cogan, Cruttwell (Pritchard), Bodkin (Foulkes); Collin, Akrofi (Harris). Attendance: 192.

Next up for United is their hotly-anticipated FA Cup third round qualifying replay at home to National League South club Margate on Tuesday night. Kick-off at The Pilot Field is 7.45pm.
