Russell Eldridge is hoping Little Common draw ‘one of the big boys’ in the last 16 of the Parafix Sussex Senior Challenge Cup.
Common will join the likes of Brighton & Hove Albion reserves, Crawley Town and Eastbourne Borough in the third round draw after their 2-0 victory at home to Bexhill United last night (Tuesday).
“A plum tie would be nice,” said Common player-manager Eldridge. “We would like one of the bigger boys, especially here.
“On the whole I would say we deserved it (the win against Bexhill). I don’t think Matt (Cruttwell, Common’s goalkeeper) had too many saves to make. Once we settled ourselves down and got our passes in I think we were the better team and we controlled it.
“We just lacked that little bit of quality, but I think it was difficult conditions out there for both teams. I think we probably adapted a little bit better and tried to play the football, and I think we got our rewards.”
