Hastings United manager Terry White said it was just important to get a result against Corinthian-Casuals regardless of how it was achieved.

“I said to the players before the game ‘we just need to get a result of some description’,” said White after United’s 2-1 victory at The Pilot Field on Saturday. “It didn’t matter how we got it and we’ve managed it fortunately.

“When you think about the chances that we missed, I thought it was quite ironic that the two goals we did score were two real quality goals. I thought we looked a lot better defensively (having reverted to a 4-4-2 formation).

“We looked like we pressed the ball a bit better. There’s still parts of it that we need to work on obviously, but the result was the most important thing today.”
