Jalal signs new deal with Cherries

Former Hastings United goalkeeper Shwan Jalal has signed a new two-year contract at AFC Bournemouth.

The Iraq-born 26-year-old joined the Cherries in 2008, initially on loan, and has made 75 league starts for the League Two promotion hopefuls.

Former William Parker Sports College pupil Jalal, who stands 6ft 2in tall, told the club website: "I'm pleased with my form and it's great that I've been rewarded with this."

After impressing as a teenager with Hastings, Jalal was snapped up by Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur. He has since had spells at Woking, Peterborough United, Sheffield Wednesday (loan) and Morecambe (loan).
