Sussex County Cricket Club are delighted to announce that Luke Wright has signed a three-year extension to his contract at The BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground, which will see him remain at Hove until at least the end of the 2018 season.

The 29 year-old, who has been awarded a Benefit Year by Sussex in 2015, has been at Hove for a decade now and whilst making his name both at home and abroad as a devastating one-day player, the hard-hitting batsman enjoyed a superb 2014 season across all formats.

Wright struck 933 runs in the LV=County Championship at an average of 51.83, and his highest score of 189 came in the record Sussex sixth-wicket partnership of 335 which he shared with Ben Brown against Durham.

His 601 runs in the NatWest T20 Blast included the breathtaking 153 not out from 66 balls against Essex, to lead the Sharks to a world-record run chase, and he also averaged nearly 50 in the Royal London One-Day Cup, smashing 127 from 115 balls against Glamorgan.

Wright said of his contract extension at Hove, “I’m delighted to have signed for the next four years at Sussex. I absolutely love this club.

“I was really proud of my performance last year but it is only really satisfying when that contributes to winning trophies. I truly believe we will over the next four years.”

Sussex’s Professional Cricket Manager Mark Robinson said, “Luke has been in outstanding form for a period of time now. He has long been seen as one of the leading one-day and T20 players in the world but he has really come into his own in red-ball cricket in recent times as he matures into a more complete player.

“So for him to commit himself for the next four years is great news for all concerned as we look forward to next season.”
