Relaxed Priory aim to finish on high
With their survival guaranteed, Hastings Priory go into the final weekend of the season aiming to finish as high as they can.
Victory away to Three Bridges tomorrow (Saturday) is 99 per cent certain to secure fifth place in the Premier Division of the Sussex Cricket League.
And Priory could even go as high as fourth if they pick up the full house of 30 points and Chichester Priory Park earn less than eight at home to third-placed Brighton & Hove.
Strike bowler John Morgan said: "Fifth place would be a fantastic season. Jason (Finch, captain) said at the start of the season our aim was to finish third-bottom with a young side so it's already been a very good season."
But Bridges still have work to do. They are the third of four teams – the others being East Grinstead, Eastbourne and Cuckfield - battling to avoid the second relegation place going into a fascinating last day. Bexhill are already down.
Morgan, James Pooley and Tim van Noort will return to a strong-looking Priory side after missing the high-scoring draw at home to Bridges last weekend.
Priory (from): Van Noort, Payne, Finzel, Jumat, H. Finch, Campbell, J. Finch, Pooley, Morgan, Lamb, Poysden, Glazier.
Crowhurst Park, meanwhile, require 16 points from their trip to bottom-of-the-table Battle tomorrow to clinch the East Sussex Cricket League title.
