Robertson beaten in first round
Jimmy Robertson was beaten in round one of snooker's Grand Prix Qualifiers on Monday.
The 23-year-old from Bexhill went down 5-1 to Matthew Couch at Pontin's, Prestatyn, with his only success coming in frame five.
Robertson won three matches in the season's one previous ranking event – the Roewe Shanghai Masters Qualifiers – before being pipped 5-4 by former world champion Graeme Dott.
That performance has put him 67th on the provisional rankings with the top 72 at the end of the campaign's six ranking events retaining their playing privileges for next term.
Scunthorpe-based Couch, a UK Championship quarter-finalist in 1998, also made a good start because he won two matches in the Roewe Shanghai Masters Qualifiers.
Robertson is having his third tilt at the main tour this year as a result of topping the 2008-09 EASB Pro-Ticket Tour rankings helped by winning the English Amateur Championship.
St Leonards-based Mark Davis, 36th on the provisional rankings, will enter at the third round stage on Wednesday when a win will set up a clash with the great Steve Davis.
