Rye gunning for league title
With their interest in the cups now over, Rye United are setting their sights on winning the league.
Tuesday night's Sussex County Football League Division Two Challenge Cup semi-final defeat to Loxwood has left Rye free to focus solely on the league run-in.
Manager Scott Price said: "I've kept them (the players) away from the pressure really about us winning the league, but the position we're in now that's what we're going to try to do."
A splendid run of six successive league wins, with five clean sheets thrown into the bargain, has put Rye in a tremendous position to repeat their title triumphs of 2002 and 2003.
Currently in second place, Rye are just three points behind Loxwood with four games in hand and have played fewer matches than any of the sides in the promotion picture.
The full story will appear in Friday's Rye Observer.
Rye's remaining fixtures (subject to change): tomorrow (Saturday) Steyning Town (h), Wednesday Wealden (h), March 20 East Preston (h), March 24 Seaford Town (a), March 27 Loxwood (h), March 30 0akwood (a), April 5 Westfield (a), April 10 Littlehampton Town (h), April 14 Seaford Town (h), April 17 Midhurst & Easebourne (a), April 20 Little Common (a), April 24 Rustington (a), April 27 Worthing United (a), May 1 Clymping (a).
