Towse targeting national final
Jake Towse will be targeting a place in a national final during a big weekend for West Hill Boxing Club.
Towse will travel to Haslemere in Surrey on Sunday for his CYP Championships class C (birth years 1991 and 1992) under-60 kilos last four clash against Lloyd Johnson (Golden Ring, Southampton).
West Hill's head coach Dave Bishop said: "I watched a DVD of his opponent on Tuesday and he's a very cagey boxer. Jake's a much better class boxer, but this boy could drag him down to his level. It's going to be 'get your tactics right or you're not going to win'."
South East Counties champion Towse will be eager to make up for his disappointment of last year when he was controversially beaten by the Irish champion at the same stage of the competition.
Tomorrow (Saturday), meanwhile, Barry Buchanan will be in Bognor for the Southern Counties prelims and semi-finals in the Senior ABA Championships.
Buchanan will line-up in what is expected to be a very competitive light middleweight (71 kilos) division having recovered from the facial cut he sustained at a club show in Dartford a fortnight ago.
