They are raffling a Christmas Hamper as the top prize, with proceeds to St Michael's Hospice; the second prize is chocolates and bubbly, third prize chocolates.

The end of the month will whizz round all too quickly but make a note that, on Friday, October 31, a charity Breast Cancer party 'Dare to wear Pink' will take place at The Plough.
For a donation of £2 enter into the spirit of the evening and maybe you will win the prize for the best dressed.

Horticulture: The Royal Horticultural Society's annual raffle will be drawn on December 11, in time for Christmas. The first prize is a Hebridean Spirit Cruise to Malta and Sicily or £5,000 in cash and there are nineteen other prizes. Tickets are £1 each and have been sent to members of the RHS.

Westfield Horticultural Society has some to sell which will be available at their annual general meeting on Thursday, October 23, in Westfield Community Dining Hall.

Members and friends are welcome to attend this meeting at 7.30pm, which will include a talk on Bees Foraging by Moyra Davidson and, to help human foraging, at the following pot-luck supper each person is requested to bring some goodies for the table, savoury or sweet.
Macmillan coffee: Andy and Lynne, at The Old Courthouse, held a very successful morning as part of the World's Biggest Coffee Morning - raising £243 for Macmillan Cancer Support. They would like to thank everyone who responded to the request for raffle prizes and books, the ladies of Westfield Women's Institute for their delicious cakes and everyone who came for their cuppa. An especial thank you to Barbara and Jim Hobbs for their help to organise the event on the day as Lynne was indisposed.
