News from Westfield
JUMBLE: The 1st Westfield Scout Group's Jumble Sale is in Westfield Community Hall tomorrow (Saturday) with the doors opening at 2pm.
Admission is 20p and there are bound to be lots of bargains for everyone.
If you have anything, other than TVs, computers or furniture, please take it to the hall at midday on the day.
HAMPERS: Preparations for Christmas are rapidly gathering momentum and this weekend Carr Taylor Vineyards in Wheel Lane will help you make the task easier.
Their Christmas Carr and Hamper Weekend takes place tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday from 10am to 5pm both days.
Taste some of the wine on offer while you choose that ideal gift for friends, family or business contacts, from the variety of local produce.
For those people who have not discovered Carr Taylor Vineyards, follow the brown tourist signs from the A21 and A28 by the Old Courthouse in Westfield.
CHURCH: This Sunday, services at St. John the Baptist, Westfield, are Holy Communion at 8pm, Prayer Gathering at 9.45am and Family Service with Baptism at 10.30am when the preacher is the Bishop of Lews.
Love-in-a-box parcels, including those contributions from westfield Primary School, will be blessed before beginning their journey to Eastern Europe.
Newspaper Delivery: Richard, at Westfield News, is now able to deliver daily or weekend newspapers to residents living in Baldslow Down, Westfield Lane and Moat Lane.
This is in addition to his usual rounds which include Doleham, Three Oaks, Cottage Lane and Harts Green.
What a good time to begin for those not wishing to venture out during the winter. Telephone 01424 753232 for details and charges.
The Plough: The management of The Plough Inn has changed again this week. It is such a pity that Vicky and Gary have found it necessary to leave. They were settling into and supporting village life.
The recent quiz held at The Plough was their last fund-raising event and last week they were able to see the new door installed in the Parish Hall for playgroup's benefit.
This week, members of the Short Mat Bowls Club, who play in the Community Hall, enjoyed their annual lunch at the Plough.
Vicky and Gary have recently returned from their honeymoon in Cuba, following their recent marriage, and now they have their future to plan. Best wishes.
FRIENDS: The Friends of Westfield Church are busy preparing for the Christmas Fayre on Saturday, December 1, in the Parish Hall, running from 2pm to 4pm.
All offers of donations to the raffle and help on the day with setting up and clearing away, etc., will be welcome from anyone wishing to support the Friends and their purpose of looking after the ancient monument.
