Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice and Brighton Dome are running a fundraising art exhibition and auction called the Big Heart Auction. There are two forthcoming exhibitions to show the works that will be available to purchase by bidding on eBay from July 1-10 - one is at Towner Art Gallery in Eastbourne on June 7-9, open 10am until 5pm, and then one in Hastings at St Mary In The Castle on June 21-13, open 1-5pm on June 21 and then 10am-5pm on June 22 and 23.

The Big Heart Auction is a special charity art auction raising money for both Chestnut Tree House and Brighton Dome and Festival’s Umbrella Club which provides live art experiences for life-limited children.

There will be around 200 works in total available to bid on by established professional and amateur artists, photographers and illustrators from across Sussex.

Big name artists from these areas who have donated artworks fro the Big Heart Auction include the wonderful Barbara Burns, based in Eastbourne as well as Alan Rankle based in St Leonards.

One highlight for 2016 auction is ‘The Art Bird’ a very rarely available print by the immensely popular children’s illustrator Sir Quentin Blake who is based in Hastings. He said: “I am delighted to donate The Art Bird painting to Chestnut Tree House for their Big Heart auction. As a children’s book illustrator I’m particularly pleased to be able to support this wonderful children’s charity in this way and I hope that my contribution will enable them to continue their invaluable support for so many families.”
