Cecil The Lion painted by Nicky Colbran to be included in the December Art Show at Powedermills Hotel

The widely publicised death of a much-loved lion inspired artist Nicola Colbran to create a stunning portrait to be auctioned for charity.

Her painting of Cecil will be on show at the December Art Show which is at the Powdermills Hotel in Battle from December 1-6 from 10-8pm each day.

Nicola said: “Being a crazy animal lover and conservationist I was very upset by the death of Cecil the lion at Hawange in Zimbabwe on the 1st of July and as a result spent most of the summer doing a large painting of Cecil. It will be on show at The December Art Show and will then be auctioned for charity in December with the proceeds going to the David Shepherd Wildlife Trust.”

The art show itself provides opportunity to see the latest work of seven local artists with a wide variety of style and subject matter, including wildlife, architecture, landscape, cityscapes and portraits, impressionistic, abstract, figurative and realism.

These works are executed in a variety of media including acrylic, watercolour, pen and ink, oil and mixed media incorporating textured surface, metal and collage.

Come along and enjoy a feast of art from greetings cards to something special for Christmas.
