The critically acclaimed Rats’ Tales by Carole Ann Duffy is being performed by the Stables Youth Theatre, Hastings, from September 4 to 7.
Rats’ Tales was first performed at the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester in 2012 receiving superlative reviews.
The author and Poet Laureate, Carol Ann Duffy, has granted special permission for the Stables Youth Theatre to perform the piece.
She has also waived performance rights as part of her support for the production.
Inspired by the tale of the Pied Piper, the play winds a theme of stolen childhood around a number of Duffy’s original fairy stories.
As well as the Pied Piper, there are intriguing stories such as Nine Words, Wooden Maria and The Lost Happy Endings.
Young people from local secondary schools will bring the author’s works to life in a production directed by established youth theatre directors Maureen Nelson and Niall Whitehead.
The show promises to be quirky, enchanting, droll and just a little bit scary!
Performances are Wednesday, September 4 through to Saturday, September 7, at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £12.50 or £7.50 for concessions, including members, children, and groups.
