'Absolutely brilliant' organ recital

Exuberant, enthusiastic, innovative, humorous and technically absolutely brilliant are just a few adjectives to describe Daniel Moult, who played the second concert in the series at All Saints Church last Monday.

He wowed his very appreciative audience with the greatest possible variety of registrations available on the Father Willis organ. The gentle flutes contrasted hugely with the full organ sound which reverberated to the rafters. After reminding us that he first played a concert in Hastings in 1989 when he was just 16, he went on to demonstrate that the organ was The King of Instruments as described by Mozart. The variations on I Got Rhythm by Britton - still playing in his early nineties, includes the most fiendish pedal cadenza known to man!

On Monday July 25, the performer will be Geoffrey Morgan from Christchurch Priory in Devon. His programme will include music by Stanley, Jongen, Bach, and Hollins. The concert begins at 7.30pm and tickets are £8. Refreshments are available in the interval. Further information from Malcolm Lock on 0780 1068 156. By Marion Lovell.
