The exhibition at 20 Kings Road in St Leonards was conceived as a way of exploring the value of materiality to social interaction, in a society increasingly reliant on digital communication and virtual environments. Each artist has created their own body of work, linked by common themes relating to the physicality and presence of everyday objects, materials and spaces.

Pound shops, digestive systems, elastic bands and disused land are among the varied sources of inspiration for the work. The artists seek to overturn expected reaction associated with these subjects and encourage us to encounter them afresh - removed from their original contexts and transformed through artistic processes such as printmaking, sculptural manipulation, abstraction, and photography.

The opening night (open to the public) will be on Saturday May 28 at 6pm and Bargain Studio will be holding a workshop on Monday Bank Holiday May 30. The artists would like to engage as many local adults and children as possible to take part in this sculptural workshop which responds to the work they have produced, and materials will be provided on the day.
