Huge queues of visitors formed early on Saturday morning in readiness for this special new event. Eighty artists, selected by the organisers of Art Car Boot Fairs, were set up on the Stade Open Space to sell their wares.

Overflowing with local and London talent, prints were on sale from Tracey Emin, Sir Peter Blake, Keith Coventry, Gavin Turk, plus a talking Chicken Town hand-print from John Cooper Clarke.

There was also an exciting new collaboration with Marcus Harvey whose exhibition opened on Saturday at the Jerwood Gallery as part of the Root1066 Contemporary Art Festival. He was selling his Hastings Sand Castles, specially made for the fair.

“This was another great event from the exciting and diverse Stade Saturdays programme facilitated by Hastings Borough Council” said Cllr Dawn Poole the council’s lead member for culture. “A fantastic variety of art was on offer, all at affordable prices and I’m sure many were able to bag themselves a bargain!”

Event organisers who have held Art Car Boot Fairs in London and Margate commented that is was one of their most successful events.
