RobArt is the brainchild of local artist Roger Hill and builds on the success of the annual arts show which runs over August Bank Holiday weekend in Roberstbridge. Roger said: “The Robertsbridge Arts Show attracts visitors from far and wide, and is a showcase for the depth of talent in the village. It raises funds for St Mary’s Church, Salehurst. A few of us got together and wondered if we could take our work to a different audience, and raise some money for another good cause.”

The result is RobArt and this new show is an opportunity to meet, view, and buy original art directly from the artists. Admission is free, from 10-5pm each day, but a collection to raise funds for the RNLI is being taken. Photographer Paul Pitman said: “I was inspired by the Stade, and the fishing fleet. Surrounded by the net sheds, it is hard to imagine the cold, wet dangerous work done by fishermen and the RNLI crew. We all felt it was right to try and give something back to the RNLI who give their time to keep everyone safe at sea.”

The group is supported by the Robertsbridge Enterprise Group (REG) and Hastings Council in organising this event. The five artists are: Roger Hill – oil paintings, Paul Pitman - photography, Frances Bristow – stone sculpture, Gary Brinklow – oil paintings, Martin Brockman – wood carvings and sculptures. The range of medium, and the diverse styles on show, make this an exhibition for all. Many of the pieces are for sale, and artists will be available to discuss their work, and provide insight to their creative process.
