Organ recital series at All Saints

Daniel Cook, who is the sub-organist from Westminster Cathedral, sent the 28th series of organ concerts in All Saints Church in Hastings Old Town off to a flying start.

Daniel is the principal organist to the Abbey Choir and Assistant Director of Music to James O’Donnell, and has a busy schedule of recitals and recordings. Having played for us in previous series, he was familiar with the Father Willis organ, and explored many nuances of the colours of the stops. He spoke informatively and entertainingly between pieces, and his very varied programme concluded with Carillon de Westminster by Vierne. What else?

The next concert on Monday July 18 will be played by Daniel Moult, who is an innovative concert organist and teacher. He also has a wicked sense of humour! His music will be by many famous composers for the organ including Bach, Mozart, Handel, Widor and Vierne, but also some by 20th century composers, finishing with Variations on I Got Rhythm by H.Britton. The concert begins at 7.30 pm and tickets £8. Refreshments served in the interval. By Marion Lovell.
