Progressive and refreshing country rock for that Mrs Y
The rather marvellous Mrs Yarrington's Music Club will welcome Ryan Cook next week to the Senlac Inn in Battle for a live gig on Tuesday July 5.
On tour from Canada and following a performance at the Maverick Americana Festival, this multi-award winning musician will take his audience well down the country music lane.
Ryan Cook is an acclaimed singer/songwriter who has performed with country purists and legendary names such as Dwight Yoakam, Roseanne Cash, and Travis Tritt.
Defying the standard in cowboy culture, Ryan’s roots range as far away as punk rock, death metal and alternative pop.
His progressive take on Americana and folk music has been called refreshing by various critics.
All three of his albums have earned Album of the Year at the Nova Scotia music awards. Ryan has achieved a total of 15 nominations from Music Nova Scotia and The East Coast Music Association while performing over 800 concerts throughout North America and Asia since 2007.
Reviews of his latest album Wrestling With Demons include: “From Cowboy songs and country swing with a dash of Bakersfield, Cook’s feet seem firmly planted in real life. As a result, you’ll find far more peaks than valleys here and the view looks truly promising,” from Maverick Magazine, while Country Music News gave the album four stars and said it was “nothing short of spectacular...A terrific album that every fan of good music should get to hear.”
Tickets cost £12 - to book and for more information about upcoming gigs go to www.mrsy.co.uk or 07794821454.
