Steam train treat from Horsham to Canterbury

The Cathedrals Express returns to Horsham next month to take locals on a steam-hauled treat to Canterbury.

On Saturday July 5, the train is scheduled to be hauled by Britannia Class steam locomotive, 70013 Oliver Cromwell starting in Horsham at 8.45am.

It will then pick up passengers in Ockley, Holmwood, Dorking, Leatherhead and Cheam before heading into the Kent countryside to Canterbury.

Passengers will have nearly four hours to explore the city with its stunning architecture and world famous buildings, including the cathedral .

They will rejoin The Cathedrals Express at 4.50pm, for a return journey along the North Kent Coast.

Steam Dreams’ chairman, Marcus Robertson said: “We are very pleased to be visiting Horsham again, following our visit here last Christmas.

“Locals are in for a real treat as they sit back and relax in our elegantly refurbished 1950s and 60s carriages, enjoying a four or five course meal if they wish, taking in the stunning countryside along the route to one of our most popular destinations.”
