Three unlikely friends take control of their office and learn there is nothing they can’t do, even in a man’s world as HAODS take to the stage in Horsham with 9 to 5 The Musical.

Director Audrey Lucas said: “9 to 5 The Musical, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick, is based on the seminal 1980 hit movie. Set in the late 1970s, this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic. We are bang on schedule as we rehearse this wonderful Dolly Parton musical, which follows the exploits of three women as they fight to overcome the misogynistic views of the 1970s American workplace. However, with a nod to our hopefully more enlightened times, the boss isn’t quite given the free rein that he might have expected back in the day! In keeping with the Dolly twinkle, we’ve taken a tongue-in-cheek approach to this show and the cast have been fantastic at adopting a somewhat kitsch and stylised sense of fun when portraying the monotony but also the camaraderie of the 1970s office. Our audiences might be sympathetic towards Roz as she fantasises about her boss Hart; they will definitely be with Judy every step of the way as she struggles to survive being dumped by her husband Dick; and they’ll also be rooting for Violet as she strives for the professional recognition she truly deserves; and they will undoubtedly applaud Doralee’s efforts to overcome the petty jealousies and unwanted attention she lives with every day, simply because she’s young and pretty.” 9 to 5 will at the Capitol Theatre in Horsham at 7.30pm from Nov 9-11 and 2pm and 7pm on Saturday, November 12.
