The Rudgwick U11 Mixed Team took the Gold medals in a strong field and is now set to represent the South East England Region in the National Finals to be held in Stoke on Trent, in May.

For seven of the gymnasts this follows a previous success in the Team Trio Competition held in December and their selection to National Finals to be held in March.

The judges remarked on the strong performances from all the teams and their consistency with high scores on both floor and vault.

Gymnastics coach Alison Thompson said: “The children had worked extremely hard to prepare for the competition and showed great competitiveness on the day.

“Their commitment and sporting attitude is commendable and made me very proud.”

The 15 gymnasts were selected from the school gymnastics club which has a total of 65 children participating over four sessions a week.

Financially, the travelling to competitions and overnight stay, as well as competition leotards is a huge financial commitment for parents of these gymnasts.
