A spokesman for the Co-op said: “Co-op regularly reviews its properties and after careful consideration our Western Road store has been sold. The decision to sell any store is never taken lightly. Colleagues have been informed, and our priority has been to provide our full support, ensuring they have all either found alternative positions at the Co-op or transfer (under TUPE* regulations) to the new operator. We would like to thank the community for its support over the years.”

Co-op also has a store in Devonshire Road, Bexhill.
