A Horsham headteacher has said the closure of schools was ‘sadly inevitable’ as Boris Johnson announced a raft of new restrictions.

As the country was plunged into a third national lockdown including the closure of schools, Jules White said it was important the Government ‘levelled with parents, pupils and schools’ and confirmed what has been ‘obviously necessary for some time’.
He added: “Now schools must continue to look after the academic and emotional wellbeing of children of all ages and backgrounds.

“In turn, the government must start to lead schools in a decisive and consistent manner and provide a clear plan that is credible and helps to reduce the worst elements of this enforced closure and tackle thorny issues such as the long term effects of more closures and what will happen to effectively replace this summer’s exams.”
