East Sussex covid numbers by district

According to the East Sussex County Council website, the infection rate per 100,000 across the county is 270 while England’s rate jumped again to 426.

Wealden currently has the most cases in the county with 380, up from 344.

Lewes has 347 cases, up from 341, while Eastbourne’s infections increased again from 290 to 324.

Hastings’ cases went down from 239 to 238, while Rother recorded the fewest infections with 218, up from 197.

As of June 20, Rother had the highest rate of people who had received at least the first dose of the vaccine with 90 per cent.

Lewes has a vaccination rate of 88 per cent while 87 per cent of Wealden’s population has had at least their first jab.

Eastbourne has a vaccination rate of 83 per cent and Hastings has the lowest percentage in the county with 76.

On the most recent Covid-19 weekly surveillance update from East Sussex County Council, a joint statement from directors of public health in Sussex and the Sussex Health and Care Partnership was issued.

It read, “The lifting of Covid-19 restrictions from Monday is a significant step towards a future in which we will have to learn to live with the virus – however we should continue to do so responsibly.

“Infection rates in Sussex have increased recently and are likely to keep rising in the coming weeks.

“We anticipate that this may be extremely difficult for staff working in health and care and beyond who have worked so hard to keep everyone safe.

“As Covid-19 cases continue to rise across Sussex, it may only add to the pressure.

“Without doubt, the responsibility to protect ourselves, our loved ones, our communities and our colleagues lies with us.”
