Tips and bin collections unchanged as Horsham enters third lockdown

Horsham District Council has issued an update after the country was plunged into a new national lockdown.

All parks and sites in the district (Leechpool/Owlbeech Woods, Chesworth Farm, Southwater Park, Warnham Local Nature Reserve, Horsham Park) remain open for exercise and fresh air, the council said. The cafe at Southwater Country Park is open for takeaway refreshments only, but the Warnham Local Nature Reserve cafe is closed.

A spokesman added: “Toilet facilities at both Southwater Country Park and Warnham Local Nature Reserve will remain open. There are no toilets in Horsham Park, with the nearest facilities in Swan Walk and Piries Place.

“Playgrounds will remain open but we remind everybody to be mindful about social distancing and follow government guidance. If a facility is busy, please come back later.

“We are reviewing the use of the skate parks and the Highwood Pump Track and will make a decision in due course.

“Tennis courts and outdoor gyms are closed following the government guidance for national lockdown.”

The spokesman added: “The Council will keep the situation under constant review. Please visit our website www.horsham.gov.uk/coronavirus for updated information.

“Bin collection services are running as normal and should not be affected by the move from Tier 4 to lockdown. Residents can check their own personalised bin collection calendar at https://www.horsham.gov.uk/waste-recycling-and-bins/household-bin-collections/check-your-bin-collection-day as the dates are currently different due to the Christmas period.

“All Household Waste Recycling Sites will remain open. The Household Waste Recycling Sites are run by West Sussex County Council.
