Healthy eating for life

Most of us know what a healthy balanced diet looks like – but when our lives are busy, we have health issues or other circumstances that stop us from being able to easily plan, prepare and cook healthy meals it’s all too easy to get into bad habits.

That can mean the weight creeps up and more often than not the motivation to lose it goes down. It’s a vicious cycle, but Weigh to Go could help you to turn that around.

This course, funded through Adur and Worthing Council and the Active Worthing Wellbeing Centre CIC, is designed to be friendly and supportive. Small groups mean individual attention and a plan that helps you, your circumstances and your lifestyle.

What’s on offer?

The three-month course includes:

– Three full-body composition measurements and weeklyweigh-ins with a weight management advisor

– A range of healthy eating topics including foodlabelling, portion sizes and healthy recipes

– Strategies to help you change habits and behavioursto live a healthier lifestyle

– A 45-minute exercise session with an Active Worthingspecialist fitness instructor

Will it suit me?

We’re all different and these classes take account of that. You may have specific needs or challenges when it comes to healthy eating but these courses can be adapted and tailored for everyone. You don’t have to have done anything like this before, or you might have been trying to lose weight for ages.

It’s not a specific diet, the course is designed to give you the knowledge, the motivation and the support to change eating habits for better ones, for good. And at the same time begin to do some gentle exercises to get you moving.

This isn’t a sweaty gym session and you don’t need any special equipment or clothing. Even if you’ve never done exercise this can help you to get moving – it’s all about functional movement, helping you go about your everyday tasks more easily and more comfortably.

When and where?

There is one course which will run in the afternoon and one evening course. So you can pick the one which suits your life best. Both venues have parking on site.

One is on Mondays between 3pm and 5pm at the Sidney Walter Centre, near Morrisons in Worthing.

The other is on Wednesdays between 7.15 and 9.15pm at Worthing High School
