Have you considered becoming a foster carer?

The chair of Brighton & Hove City Council’s Corporate Parenting Board, cllrElaine Hills, says she was inspired at a recent meeting by the personal stories and experiences of Tom and Sandra - two local carers who said fostering had been the best thing they’d ever done.

Cllr Hills said: “It was great to know that fostering has been such a positive experience for Tom and Sandra. We're very grateful to have such dedicated carers looking after and providing a safe, loving environment to vulnerable children.

“The impact our foster carers can have on transforming the lives of our children and young people cannot be overstated.

“Our fostering team offers first class training and 24-7 support. And unlike some independent fostering agencies we are of course a not-for-profit service.

“We welcome interest in fostering from all sections of our diverse community, regardless of your marital status, race, disability, sexuality or gender.

“We need people from all backgrounds who have a spare room and child care experience and want to help make a positive difference to the lives of vulnerable children.

"Our team is successfully working to assess and approve new foster carers during the pandemic within government guidelines."
