Saxonwood Wi met on Wednesday 12th May at 7.30pm in the Shepherd Room , Memorial Halls , Battle. This meeting was our annual Resolution Meeting and Fish & Chip Supper.
The resolution is, “ We call on every member of the WI to make their wishes regarding organ donation known, and encourage their families , friends and members of their local communities to do likewise.”
This resolution was passed with a majority and the result has been passed on to WI headquarters. Some members volunteered personal memories of having organ donation operations themselves or family and how much they are appreciated as they have given a new lease of life.
Quiz sheets were distributed for us to solve until our fish & chip suppers were collected fresh, hot and tasty from the local fish & chip shop ! These were very much enjoyed . We then celebrated Ina’s 90th birthday with a delicious home made birthday cake splendidly alight with candles which Ina extinguished promptly as we sang “ Happy Birthday! “
The quiz answers were revealed and top marks were won by a few members.
The competition was ; an old coin, 1st Stella; 2nd Christine N; 3rd Brenda. Brenda was given a pretty bouquet of flowers as the winner of most points for last year’s competitions. .
Brenda then asked our opinion on this year’s summer outing. It was decided that Ightham Mote will be our destination on Wednesday 13th August. Full details will be given at our next meeting.
