The village is a gem of beauty along the South Downs, with it impressive vistas and coastal views.

And on June 22, people from across the county will be able to experience the community in full bloom as part of the Slindon Open Gardens Sunday.

More than 20 gardens will be throwing open their doors to the public for the event.

Mary Moor, who lives in the village, said: “With plenty of history to explore in the village and many colourful herbaceous borders, lavender beds and roses to admire in the month of June, it is a great afternoon to wander round and experience a snap shot of a traditional rural setting.”

The event will be raising money for Slindon’s 900-year-old St Mary’s Church as well as the national children’s charity Action Medical Research. There will be free parking at the Coronation Hall, in Reynolds Lane, and at Gaston Farm, in School Hill.

The open day will run from 2-6pm.

Tickets are available in the car parks or the individual gardens at £5 per adult, with children under 16 entering for free.
