Air ambulance called to serious incident in Eastbourne

An air ambulance was called to Sovereign Harbour in Eastbourne this afternoon (May 4).

The emergency helicopter landed in the car park off Atlantic Drive in South Harbour just after 1pm today.

It was joined at the scene by two fire engines, ambulances, and paramedics.

Witness Carl Slezacek said, “Today the community was drawn out of their homes to view a mass arrival of emergency services: two fire engines, ambulance and paramedics, and the air ambulance helicopter landing at the end of Atlantic Drive in the Berth Holders car park.

“Then three paramedics jumped out and hot-footed it fully equipped down to Madeira Way.”

A spokesperson for South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) said the helicopter was assisting them with a call to a private address, and would give no further information.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) said crews were assisting SECAmb with an incident but would give no further details.

A spokesperson for ESFRS said, “At 13:18, we were called to attend a property on Madeira Way, Eastbourne in order to support SECAmb with an incident. “Firefighters from Eastbourne and Pevensey assisted SECAMB.”
