Alastair could net £40,000 for town tourism this year

TOURIST accommodation bookings made through a Bexhill Chamber of Commerce and Tourism member's not-for-profit website are expected to be worth £40,000 to the town this year.

Chamber communications officer Sue Spice has told members: "With all the interest in Bexhill's tourism economy you may be like to learn the latest news from fellow chamber member Alastair Hazell regarding his not for profit website www.discoverbexhill.com

"Alastair, being a website professional, keeps a thorough check on visitors to this site tracking what they do, and where they go.

"The Bexhill accommodation booking figures, made through this site, so far this year make good reading.

* April to-date - 42 bookings so far

* March - 52 bookings

*Feb - 48 bookings

*January - 23 bookings

"As you can see, the numbers are growing. If this keeps up we estimate that accommodation bookings made through this website will amount to around 40,000 this coming year.

"That is a lot of business for Bexhill, and complements the work of the Bexhill Guide.

"Incidentally, the confirmed bookings for Bexhill made through the 1066 destination management system on the 1066 website, amount to NIL since January 2007.
