Groups in Battle are being invited to get involved in organising events during 2016 as part of Battle’s 950th anniversary commemoration.
Concorde 1066 is organising the programme for October 14, 2016, while The Battle Arts and Music Festival will have a 1066 theme.
At a regional level, Hastings will be promoting and co-ordinating cultural activities.
The Battle Museum of Local History, the Battle and District Historical Society and Battle Photographic Society all have plans for special exhibitions, lectures and books on the 1066 theme next year.
And representatives from these groups are hoping to hear from other local organisations who are making special anniversary plans.
Sarah Hall, of the Battle and District Historical Society, said: “As indicated at the parish assembly in April, Battle Town Council has recognised the need to co-ordinate and publicise the town’s activities next year, and as a start has asked its project manager, Trevor Houghton – Berry, to contact societies to see who is organising 1066 commemorative events for 2016, with the aim of providing a centrally-compiled schedule.”
Any groups who would like their event to appear on the list are asked to contact Trevor on 01424 772210 or email email@example.com
