Another big name coming to Ravenside

PLANS to expand and increase the number of stores at Ravenside Retail Park took another step forward this week.

Site owners Land Securities announced home improvement chain Wickes intends to move into on the new units at Brett Drive.

Planning permission for the store was granted outline approval last week and already Land Securities has submitted an amended application to address the concerns of the council regarding parking and landscaping.

The arrival of Wickes will provide on-site competition for newly-revamped B&Q.

Meanwhile Tesco has applied for an even greater store extension.

The supermarket giant was granted permission to extend into Brett Drive last September following a public inquiry. Now it says it needs even more warehouse and storage space and submitted a further application this week.

Fast food outlet KFC is another major national chain hoping to move into one of the new units.
