Arun District Council to sets a new recycling record thanks to Bognor residents

Almost half of all household rubbish in Bognor Regis is being recycled. The town's green-minded residents have helped Arun District Council to set a new recycling record.

The council's latest figures show the three months since more items were able to be put into the kerbside wheelie bins have seen the amount of waste being recycled reach 42 per cent. That is way above the previous high of 38 per cent the same time last year.

Residents are also continuing to reduce the overall amount of waste they produce to keep them among the best nationally for waste from each home.

Paul Wotherspoon, in charge of Arun's environmental services, congratulated residents for their efforts.

He said: "This figure of 42 per cent is really impressive. Once again, our residents have shown us just how much they really do care about the environment around them. I hope this upward trend will continue."
