East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service are once again looking to down grade Battle Fire station, which covers Ashburnahm & Penhurst. Having a short period for consultation, the crew at Battle are asking your help to fight this decision. You can aid them by completing an online questionnaire at, which lodges your objections. There will also be a public meeting at The Memorial Hall, Battle on the April 7, 7.30p.m to which you are invited to attend.

Ashburnham Local History Group are meeting on April 7, 7.30pm at Ashburnham Church Hall. Subjects being looked at this month include: ‘The Medieval, Tudor and Jacobean Deer Park and Ashburnham. All are very welcome to attend.

Ashburnham & Penhurst WI are meeting on Monday, April 14, 7.30pm at the Village Hall. They welcome Andrea Baldry who will be demonstrating cake icing techniques to help you achieve that professional look. The evening will include refreshments. WI members free, visitors £2. The next Village Lunch is on April 16, at Ashburnham Village Hall, 12.30p.m. Lunch is cooked every month for any older residents in the villages who would like a bit of company and a delicious meal.
