BOOK GROUPS: The April book is “The True Deceiver” by Tove Jansson. (yes, she’s the Moomintroll woman, but this is a grown-up novel). This study of human character, tinged with menace, tells of the relationship between two strong women: a young sharp outsider and a wealthy elderly illustrator. Readers are left to decide for themselves who is deceiving whom. The afternoon group will meet on April 24, 2 p.m. at Ashburnham Place whilst the evening group will meet on April 28, 8 p.m. If you would like to borrow the book or would like further information about either group, please contact Nicole on 894208 or Nicky on 892474.
THROUGH TREES AND TIME: Peter Miles will be repeating this walk on the Sunday mornings of April 26 and May 3. The walk will also cover woodland archaeology, medieval earthworks, other industrial remains, woodland craft, local botany including a very rare plant and an even rarer tree, foraging (with recipes), and more. The cost is £7.50 per person towards the early Norman church of All Saints, Mountfield. To book, or for more details, contact Peter on email@example.com or 01580 880614.
