WI: Ashburnham & Penhurst WI are meeting on Monday, June 15, 7.30 p.m. at the Pavilion. This months meeting is their birthday party! The ‘Pink Party‘ will celebrate both the group’s 8th birthday and also 100 years of of the WI! Ladies of the villages are invited to join them for a bring-and-share supper. MOBILE LIBRARY: The East Sussex County Council Mobile Library service will next be in Ashburnham (by the chapel) on Tuesday, June 16, 2.40 - 3 p.m.
VILLAGE LUNCH: The next Village Lunch is on June 17, at Ashburnham Village Hall, 12.30 p.m. Lunch is cooked every month for any older residents in the villages who would like a bit of company and a delicious meal. CHAPEL COFFEE MORNING: Ashburnham Chapel are holding a coffee morning on June 22 10.30 a.m. - 12 p.m. All are welcome to join them.
GARDENING CLUB: The next meeting of the Gardening Club is on Monday, June 22, when they will be visiting the Sussex Cutting Garden at Hellingly. Members are to meet at 7 p.m. For further information, please contact John Southam on 773494.
BOOK GROUPS: The June book is “Snowdrops’ by A. D. Milller. Set in Moscow, ‘Snowdrops’ is the name Russians give to the bodies which emerge into the light when the ice and snow thaw in the Spring. Some were drunks, some were homeless, some were murder victims. This is a novel of moral ambiguity, danger and uncertainty. The afternoon group will meet on June 26 at 2 p.m., whilst the evening group will meet on June 30, 8 p.m. at Ashburnham Place.
