Sussex-born astronaut Tim Peake embarks on his historic space flight today Tuesday (December 15), when he becomes the first Briton to serve a mission on the International Space Station.

And we will be keeping you up to date with a live blog.

The excitement is building with the clock ticking towards lift-off.

Tim and his fellow astronauts will launch from Baikonur, Kazakhstan at 11.03 GMT.

Docking is scheduled for six hours after launch 17.23 GMT.

The mission duration is more than 171 days.
