How to bring up children is the subject of a first conference for mums and dads around Bognor Regis.

The author of a book called Toxic Childhood, about how the modern world is damaging youngsters, will be the guest speaker at the first event of its kind to be held around the town.

The event has been arranged by the Felpham and Bognor Regis Schools (FAB) group and will take place at Felpham Community College's main hall on October 11 between 10am and 12.30pm. Every parent of every child at school in the Bognor area is welcome.

FAB co-ordinator Tony Storey said: "Sue Palmer is a well-known writer, broadcaster and consultant on education.

"She is a lively speaker and certainly makes her audiences stop and think. She has clear messages about helping parents to ensure their children eat healthily, don't spend all their time playing computer games and get a good night's sleep."

He said the schools hoped her presence would encourage parents to attend.
