Dev Biswal, head chef and owner of The Ambrette restaurant in Rye, has been named Chef of the Year in the 2015 Kent Life and Kent on Sunday Food and Drink awards.
Nominated by readers for his work in promoting the importance of the county’s rural food producers, Dev was competing against two other chefs at the awards evening on October 15 at the Ashford International Hotel.
Dev said: “The food we serve at The Ambrette is rooted in Kent. We source our fresh produce locally whenever possible and take inspiration from ingredients foraged just miles from the restaurants.
“I aim to connect diners with the landscape that surrounds them through my cooking and so it’s a true honour to be recognised as the county’s top chef.”
The Ambrette has two other restaurants, one in Canterbury and one in Margate, as well as the one in Rye.
